Muntadas' fields of artistic production

Ensemble

Since leaving his practice as painter behind, Antoni Muntadas has remained ever true to the notion of investigation as artistic methodology. More than the resulting visual products, it is the raising of and reflection upon pertinent questions that has driven his long career as artist. And while the themes that he examines are legion, his approach is quite consistently from a socio-cultural, linguistic or anthropological viewpoint. The thematic subdivision that the Ensemblebank presents is certainly open for discussion, but what is clear is that it is the ‘questioning of’ rather than the artistic artefact itself that is of prime importance in getting the theme across. Here, the process of investigation stands central.
